Gearing new 80's & alts

Post by hung »

Its come to my attention that we have a number of new 80's, alts and otherwise.
Let's schedule a regular ToC10 run for these characters. While ToC10 may seem boring to most of us, it remains a very efficient way of collecting badges & gear. Not to mention how fast it is.

I recommend making it a pre-requisite run on Thursdays (before venturing into ICC10). Obviously, we can omit it if EVERYONE in the run is in all 232/245s. But a simple gear check will show if that's not the case.

Think of it as a ICC10 warm up ;)

I would like to keep Tuesdays and Thursdays as our scheduled guild runs for our mains, with occasional swap-ins for alts due to lack of people and filling roles.

I would like the runs for gearing new 80s and alts to NOT be on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but still have it put on calendars so that interested individuals can sign up. Personally, I wouldn't mind dragging my offspec DK or my prot spec warrior to try to tank ToC10s these days (although never tried it and would always prefer to dps). But since I've been called to tank ICC10 2-3 times now, any gear improvement for my alts would be helpful, especially if I'm expected to fill a tanking role whenever I'm called to do so.

I agree with Wynne, I think it would be better to have the gearing runs be on days other than our usual raiding days.

I would suggest either Sunday or Monday for short runs, like ToC10/25, since those tend to be slow days for us.
Tank... and tank some more.

Awright, i guess i confused the issue by talking about alts.
The whole point is to gear folks that are undergeared mains that don't raid on other nights other than Tues/thurs. Folks that raid on every night obviously don't need to worry about gearing up (you know who you are ^_^).

I'd be willing to heal any ToC10s on Meiko, she needs gear. tsukiki I'll save for ICC10/25 runs when I remember to log in O_O

EVENTUALLY(maybe not for a while) I level up Mamoru(my tankadin) and he can tank alt runs. :) I gotta learn how to heal/tank these places, right? :)

Okay it sounds like I need to chime in here.

I am very much for this. It used to be in old times that we did progression on Tuesdays and one tier behind on Thursdays to get people caught up. There is still a benefit to this. There are upgrades for most of us still in ToC25. And while they may be minorly incremental to some of us, there are many who still are using 200s and 219s in slots that could get a huge benefit from a 245.

As some of the fights in ICC25 may have shown us, we are nowhere near ready for the new progression fights. I'm starting to get the feeling that most of us need to be in close to all 245s to beat enrage timers.

It's not as fun, sure. I know most of you just want to keep on running ICC25 on Tuesday and ICC10s on Thursday, but we're going to run into loot table issues -- there aren't upgrades for every slot in the first four bosses that we're able to down.

Yeah, for sake of overall raid benefit, to allow us further ICC progression, we're going to have to take the raid through ToC25 regularly until we start succeeding in defeating the ugly twins. As much for gear as 'warm-ups' and practice, practice, practice.

I know a lot of us think that "Oh, we always succeed at ToC, so why bother?" But close scrutiny of the log parses say that there's room for improvement, even on fights where you didn't die in a fire. So, lets get our guildies gear and time-in-raid!

We can clear ToC25 in under an hour... if people bring their mains. We don't need to gear alts up in ToC25 as much as we need to fill in gear gaps - we need more people to get Justicebringers and Death's Verdicts and Solaces of the Fallen and Satrina's Impeding Scarabs and offhands.

Just throwing that out there.

I'll have high speed internet set up at our new place on the 21st so will be able to start raiding again on the 26th. Then I can start filling in some missing gear gaps like trinkets, cloak, etc.

The raids last night went well, but I don't think we can do ToC25 on Thursdays in the future. Icecrown keeps getting bigger and bigger, and as it was we only had a little time to try Putricide before it was too late for us to keep going. What alternate days would be good for running ToC25 for trinkets/etc?
