Jotting some notes down while my first heroic kill is still fresh in my mind.
Imperator Mar'gok is the final boss encounter of Highmaul. It is a drawn out, 4 phase, 2 intermission fight, with a soft 15 mins enrage. The phases escalate in difficulty, with P1 and P2 being equivalent to Kargath/Brackenspore (so snooze fest at this point), to P3 and intermission 2 being like Ko'ragh and Tectus, and P4 being a total madhouse.
This makes progession work on this guy challenging, as you have to spend 7+ mins doing something relatively simple, before all heck breaks loose and wiping in a late transition.
I've watched a number of videos on this boss. Found Fatboss tv's to be very comprehensive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5q8Vsjcb_Ko
Memos for myself:
- P3 mark of chaos strats diverge. One requires raid wide movement, the other relies entirely on tank reflexes. The later seemed unreliable, but is worth looking into.
- P4 force nova: melee should NOT reflexively charge back in.
- I2 Gorian Reaver: Hits like a TRUCK@! Save armor pot and CDs for this guy.
- P4 AoE requirement is surprising high. Explore whether AoE talents are worth carrying through first 90% of the fight?
