So a couple of observations from last nights kill of Feng. First, off great job everyone on progression kill of Feng last night. Especially to the healers for holding it down with just the two of you. The logs apparently think Shadow is something spiffy so congrats to him there.
So for phase 1 I've noticed that there is a slight RNG to my ability to pull a clean Epicenter run. There's a couple different ways Feng will go through his abilities. The ideal scenario is after the initial pull he does 1 Lightning Fist followed immediately by Epicenter. When this happens his cycle becomes 3 Fists followed by Epicenter. This is ideal since I need a 3rd one to come out for me to snag the fist everytime due to the cooldown on shroud. Occassionally he will do a 2 Fist/Epicenter Rotation. This one is much more difficult to deal with as I will miss every other Epicenter due to not having the cooldown available.
Phase 2 I think we've got down pretty well, I'm going to be better about stealing Wildfire Spark to use against him because it's more damage and is part of the achievement, no real comments on that phase other than we have to maintain a 2 heal formation in order to power through it fast enough. Maybe when Hung has barrier up we might want to move Feng towards fire so that he draws as much as possible without getting stacks. Because I noticed when Hung was using the barrier on his first draw he would usually get 20 ish stacks when he drew the 2nd time, but when we had a snafu and Hung couldn't barrier on draw 1 he got about 11 stacks or so. I dunno if this is a good idea or not but it's worth considering.
Phase 3 as we discovered a loose clump that allows for a quick collapse is ideal. It seems pretty sustainable once we've gotten all the stacks of Fire off Feng, because after he wasn't nuking the whole raid it seemed to stabilize. Would need healers to confirm this.
Other than that we just need to refine execution which is on me to make sure I steal as much as possible to pump out more damage on Feng and make sure when I can't pull off a lightning grab that we collapse as quickly as possible. For future shroud of reversal tanks I HIGHLY suggest you do the LFR version of him, even though you won't have to worry about missing as much, it teaches you the timing of the steal as well as how close you are riding that cooldown. IMO it's pretty much vital to do it there first or you're going to bouch it in normal where it really counts.

Re: Feng and further progression
Pallys cheat. I assume we'll be nerfed soon.
Phase1 was awesome when you got the epicenters. If you can only get every other one, Hung's just going to have to barrier the others which will require some healing.. but its still not too bad... i do need to learn not to run through shockwave thingy right after the epicenter though...
Phase 2... fire still hurts. i felt andy and i were better prepared for it though (knowing when to use CDs/tranquility). mainly need to learn to slow or speed up dps so when we transition to phase 3... he has minimal amounts of fire stacks
Phase 3 was surprisingly "easy"... the MAJOR problem was the arcane resonance... but when everyone found their place around the boss... the damage was minimal... arcane velocity didnt really hurt as much as i thought it would so thats always good. i know i was pretty OOM at that point (i assume andy was too) but everyone managed to stay alive for the most part.
and as always... wtb a pocky for next week!

Re: Feng and further progression
Regarding p2 and positioning: Draw flame is a channeled ability, so he won't move while casting it. Thankfully the bubble length is longer than the cast, so i can block the whole thing (assuming good response time). This is unlike epicenter of p1 btw. Epicenter's cast is LONGER than the bubble, so we'll eat some no matter what. We tend to take a tick or two just getting into position, so that works in any case.
My point is: for p2, positioning would need to be prior to the flame draw cast. But honestly, I think the variance in stacks of flame he was receiving has more to do with how much fire was spread around prior to the draw, rather than his position in the room.

Re: Feng and further progression
The Wildfire then spreads out and inflicts 116975 Fire damage every 1 sec. to any player standing within the fire.
I'm still curious into why sometimes fire happens to be dropped in the melee group.... I'm pretty sure no one had it... but all of a sudden fire everywhere!

Re: Feng and further progression
I think I can explain the fire in melee. That was me, well kind of me. If I'm able to pull off a steal of wild fire spark I hit the boss with it, but I don't really understand how it works other than it does damage. I'm not sure if he actually can get a stack of the buff from it when I do it to him. If this is the case, then I will refrain from the steal or only use it when Hung has barrier available to block stacks.
Re: Feng and further progression
SUPPOSEDLY when you steal wild fire its just suppose to put a fire dmg part to your attacks... but /shrug we can test it out next time i guessDorian wrote:I think I can explain the fire in melee. btw... Gara'jal the Spiritbinder... 3rd boss... i suppose to be a dps check. i was talking to my coworker and they double heal it... and they hit enrage a couple times @ 2%... which makes sense since we were 3 healing it and 1/2 way through enrage he was only at 68%? need more dps!
Re: Feng and further progression
I respecced Assassination since I got two daggers off of Stone Guard, which according to my meters has made my DPS go up significantly.
As far as Gara'jal goes, I wasn't there for our attempts, but from what I've seen in strategy videos, maximizing DPS seems to involve good coordination concerning going into the spirit world with the right people and using cooldowns when you get out, since you get a DPS buff. I've also heard that his enrage timer is pretty tight.
At least he's not a multi-phase boss like Feng where we can't practice later phases if we can't get past the first phases.
