Diablo 3 finally has a release date!

Post by tethealla »

Yet more stuff to keep us distracted from WoW: Diablo 3 is released May 15. The people who pre-order from blizzard (or us who have the annual pass) can download it early to be ready when it goes live.

I guess now that it has a date, we can pre-order the collectors edition as well. I have to ask myself is 4 months of free wow D2+a vanity pet worth $80(or is it $100?), or should I just go with free.

(why I saw this first on a mac blog baffles me).

Woohooo! Between this, Wasteland 2 getting enough funding that they're making that and the BG HD announcement it's been a great day today for gaming news!

So I heard that if you got the WoW annual pass and wanted a Diablo Collector's edition, that you'd be able to get the price reduce since you already have the game. Anyone know how to set that up or am I confused.

If you buy and register the CE, you will get some of the "months" that you need to pay for removed from what you need to pay for.

I.E.

If you get the CE, and it's worth 4 months, you will only have to pay for 8 months total, minus what you've paid for up to this point.

The question is if the CE is with it?
I guess it is a personal question of worth.
The CE gives you:
an art book - pretty, but likely looked through once
A wow vanity pet (little shaman dude) - <3 vanity pets
Star Craft items - I don't play SC2, but everyone else does
Diablo 2 battlechest(in a cool diablo USB sick) - Everyone else has played D2, but I haven't

The normal game is free. The CE is an outlay if $100 with a extension of 4mo of wow. The extension of 4mo of wow is worth $48 at 6mo prices or $60 at 1mo prices.

Back at Blizzcon when this was announced, I was all gung-ho to get the CE. Now that I'm playing TOR and hardly playing WOW, it's a harder decision. I guess I have a month or so to decide. Times will change. TOR will bore me eventually and WOW will come back on the radar.
