Re: Slicing nerfed
at 30th I had the 40k cargo hold tab bought and all inventory rows except 2 - and had 100k left to spare, all my skills trained and had even bought some companion gifts to get companions up to about hte same level of affection. it needed nerfing, it was a skill that was becoming a requirement. It feels like i'm getting more missions as rewards though, and even though the profit margin is much more slim now it is still there.

I feel proud for having the 40k for my speeder license... >.>;
Would it be worth it to level a second character to do some slicing?
Re: Slicing nerfed
I had been planning to have my trooper anyway, but the choice to go slicer was partly from the money involved. It's still profitable, too. I haven't had need of sending funds over to my main yet, but I do have a lot of cash on that alt. I put some of it to levelling scavenging/cybertech, just so that I can produce armoring/mods for my main, too.Pocky wrote:Would it be worth it to level a second character to do some slicing?

Around what level would I need to get my alt to for that to be worth it?Daewen wrote:I had been planning to have my trooper anyway, but the choice to go slicer was partly from the money involved. Re: Slicing nerfed
post-nerf, I dunno how profitable the lower levels are now.. but of course you need at least 10 for the companion and to get crew skills, get the ship (so, 16-18) so you have 2nd companion, and from there you can start making money.

Re: Slicing nerfed
There is definitely still money in the mid-range of the skill. I'm pretty bad about remembering to run crew skill missions but it definitely helps cover expenses while leveling. Slicing also kept me from getting terribly frustrated when I accidentally bought a couple expensive items from a vendor trying to see what they would look like. The downside to slicing is buying mats for crafting instead of farming them directly. I'm already thinking it is time for an alt for that.

Hmm. I guess I'll get my slicing alt to 20ish then. >.>;SleepDepZombie wrote:There is definitely still money in the mid-range of the skill. Re: Slicing nerfed
The trick with slicing seems to be to never run an augment mission unless you're actually trying to get augments and to run bountiful and rich lockbox missions even if they are lower level than your current top skill rage.
I've also read, but cannot in any way personally verify yet, that currently it is never worth running the tier 6 slicing missions.
I have my suspicions that actual crafting tradeskills will be better moneymakers at the top end once the economy settles down but slicing does provide a nice, regular trickle of credits for the time being.
Now that I've given up the secrets of slicing I'm sure the slicers' guild will be after me.
