Transmogrification

Post by Daewen »

It seems reasonable that some people will want to farm old content for pieces that look cool. I think this would be a good thread for that kind of wishlist discussion and planning how to help each other out- the right team-ups for places that have boss drops in common, etc.

On another matter,
Well, I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but...

We have an obligation to players and to our hard working artists to keep the game from looking too silly. I know looking ridiculous is fun for some players, but World of Warcraft was established with a design that the game overall kept its silliness in check. That’s one of the reasons we resisted adding a feature like Transmogrification for so long.

So weapons that look like fish, for example, probably won't be available as source items for Transmogrification, even if one is technically a dagger and has stats. There are a handful other weapons with "silly" models (such as frying pans, brooms, etc.) that may or may not be allowed -- it's still under discussion.

I'm just annoyed that I sold the starter DK gear since I think that's one of the best looking sets. Hopefully there's some way I can get it again.

Lots of people have said that. And about the Classic Dungeon sets, and the upgraded set... and other rare oddities like the Defias Leather set. Mindful of that, Blizzard may have some sets for purchase. Awkwardly, the Scarlet Mail is.. mail, and not plate, even though it is Strength gear prior to learning to wear plate.

I'm kinda thinking I want to find a set with as much bling as the Swiftsteel Shoulders, and make my DK all golden and radiant.. though I'm pretty sure I did keep the starter outfit too.

There are some shields I want (Trial of the Crusader 10 or 25, 25 preferred... >.> ), and I need some Blackwing Lair runs without hunters who want a pet Chromaggus. >.>;;; (I've passed on my chance for the Wrath shoulders six times now. <.<; )
Tank... and tank some more.

But but but dual-wielding the Dark Herring would be so awesome... It's even an achievement fish...

So I've only skimmed the page about transmogrification, but I'm assuming you have to have old gear to transmogrify current gear to look like it. What about non-bound gear? The fish-dagger that Wynne linked is BoE. Can Wynne transmogrify her daggers and then hand the fish dagger to me? Can we have a raid of fish-mongers?

You'll be in regular Judgement, I'll be in purple Judgement.

And of course, I will be healing in bright pink T5 :D

Ah Ha! Thanks Tony, I didn't see the long faq post. I went and found it.

The only part of the faq post I'm a bit disappointed about is the restriction on heirlooms. I hate that all leveling toons of the same armor type look the same. It's especially horrid for clothies. All priests, mages, and warlocks look like Warlocks.

OK I finally found the picture I'm looking for... an image of all the Druid sets standing next to each other.

I actually think T11 is probably the best tier of the lot... followed by T2. If we go back into bwl/MC, I'll be interested into re-collecting some T2. Does current Ony drop the correctly colored T2 heads?

If we continue to kill Nef, I'm definitely going to have to roll OS on a token now. I mean my tanking head is alright and could use an upgrade, but now this decides me =]
