That somebody had to actually post this makes me very hopeful for Cataclysm.
Ghostcrawler a few times has mentioned how the player base has been getting more sophisticated ever since Vanilla, but then in LK they simplified trash design, boosted AoE, and made threat almost non-existent, to the point pulls became single button snooze-fests for DPS. Bwuh? (Excluding boss fights and trash in Ulduar+)
Not to say the expansion was bad... there were definitely great spots (Ulduar was awesome, questing much improved), but... I spent Lich King wondering what went wrong. If you think MMO mechanics are too complex for the masses, don't simplify the end-game, instead instruct them how to play better through in-game examples? </rant>
