Cataclysm release date confirmed

Post by Pocky »

December 7, 2010 seems to be the date.

So, who's taking time off of work for it?
Tank... and tank some more.

I won't be taking time off, but think I will be "working" from home that day.

I'll be taking time off, or at least working from home.. after making sure that we have nothing "due" during the holidays when it's hard to make deadlines anyway.

Addendum: Having gone to my Amazon order, which previously said the ship date was Jan 4th, and changing the shipping speed to Release-Day, it updated to reflect Dec 7th arrival.

Well, because I have a huge surplus of vacation time and the project we're working on is finally at the big deliverable, I'm taking two weeks off for Blizzcon and I knew I was going to take another two weeks at some point in Q4... so I think I just found a good candidate.

Of course, I just realized... my Amazon order has my work address as the shipping address. I should probably switch that to my home, huh?

I'm still on the fence if I want to take some time off. For the last two xpacs, doing anything around launch day was a complete cluster f**k. Everyone is on and trying to do what you want at the same time. You're all completing for the same thing, not to mention everything is laggy as hell because everyone who suspended their account came back for the xpac.

Although as time closes in, my excitement might mount and it might push me over the fence.

Of course I suspect this leveling experience will be very different than the last. This guild is much more of a friendly family than any other guild I've ever been in. I suspect I'll be leveling/doing dungeons with people instead of on my own.

This ^ ^ ^

It'll be very difficult for me to take time off work around this date. Impossible in fact. But I intend to jump in on day one as soon as possible, because I don't want the solo grind anymore. I'd much rather group up and enjoy questing with others in completion...

Over-under on how many times I will tank the first instance of the xpac on day 1? On day 1 of Lich King, I tanked Utgarde Keep 7 times. Or was it 8?

Given previous launch day experiences, might take the following Friday off...
