Camouflage making a return is just astounding; really glad to see that back. The pet provided target debuffs actually make pets useful in MM or Surv builds, rather than just providing negligent amounts of extra dps.
Elemental damage in Surv? Oh. Hells. Yes.

I demand that a camouflaged hunter be shown surrounded by shrubbery!

Re: Cataclysm Hunter Changes
MUCH love for Snakes on a Catapult. I'm not terribly impressed with Camouflage, it sounds like a ranged only deterrence with an offensive twist. Which is, nice? I mean yeah, having more stuff to put on the action bar is um, good? But the ability to launch snakes? Priceless! (Actual cost estimated at ~25g training cost, snakes not included)
The best part is that they're saying current hunter rotations should work with the new system. The thing I was most worried about for the focus changes was that we'd spend a lot of time just waiting for focus. More varied debuffs on pets sounds nice, as does the new stables - I don't care much for the spirit beast pokemon thing myself, but having a good stable of utility pets to draw from will be very nice.

The main reason Camouflage intrigues me is because I'm just picturing two opposing hunters in a Mexican standoff, throwing snakes at each other and playing petattack/volley Chicken. :p
Also, as a self-admitted addict of random situational buffs, I do love me some more opportunities to bring different pets for different benefits. Just think: there may come a day when the margin between victory and defeat could hinge on access to a Moth

Re: Cataclysm Hunter Changes
Yeah, a big issue for hunters is having far too many situational (i.e. mostly useless) abilities clogging up our bars. IIRC GC did mention this once as being less than ideal, so maybe they'll fix it... someday.
Re: Cataclysm Hunter Changes
Camo will likely be completely useless for PVE, except as some sort of slightly-larger opening. We'll still get hit by AOE dmg from bosses which is usually the main type of dmg in boss fights. It could act as a second Deterrence in those rare boss fights where we are actually targeted in some way and have time to pop it before we are hit by some kind of range damage. But for PVE, it's worse than Deterrence imo.
It could also be completely useless even for PVP if you still have a nameplate and the way in which we are "obscured" isn't all that obscured.
I think a lot of hunters are confused about whether it stealths you or not (it doesn't) - maybe they're confused because Blizzard is calling this talent the same name as a different talent they were thinking about giving us for WotLK, which actually did stealth you.
So I'm not too keen on Camo. Trap launching may be OK, depending on the mechanic. Sounds like we'll have a macro for every type of trap that'll pop the launcher then get the reticule for the trap, then we drop it. It flies, then arms, then goes off. Won't be a good on unpredictably moving targets but could be part of a rotation depending on the dps.
I'm still waiting on final judgment, but I'm sorta.....OK? Not Unhappy? with the changes. The big hit/miss will be the focus thing, which I'm gonna guess will be tweaked a million times between now and release, and 10 million times after.

WHAT?! The moth becoming useful?! DAMMIT! How am I supposed to level an ineffectual horde huntard if my MOTH becomes a useful pet??Ustinov wrote:The main reason Camouflage intrigues me is because I'm just picturing two opposing hunters in a Mexican standoff, throwing snakes at each other and playing petattack/volley Chicken. :p
