Rotface 10

Post by Akane »

Hello all

Since I felt like banging my head against the wall after doing several attempts on Rotface and attempting to raid heal for the first time as a resto druid in an unfamiliar fight...I thought I'd go look up a video to get more familiarized with the fight.

I love TankSpot, so here is their 10man Rotface strategy....looks simple enough.

Seems like the people kite it into whomever has the other slime and make big slimes until eventually the slimes get huge and just disintegrate. While that does not help my fail attempt at healing, it will help in general for everyone who isn't familiar with this fight.

Enjoy! :)]

Generally successful rotface strategy:

- One healer on tank and kiter, one healer on raid and tank. The kite healer should ideally be a disease cleanser (IE not a druid), but if the kiter is a paladin this doesn't need to be a big sticking point. Make sure to cleanse the disease AFTER the person is clear of the group. This means that people will need to be quick on their feet about mutating infection, otherwise the mortal strike + disease damage will add up.
- If the two healers aren't enough 3-heal it, but try it with 2 first - you want to kill him before the 4-minute mark if possible.
- Other than hunters, EVERYONE stacks up on Rotface at the beginning, even the kite tank. Kite tank's DPS is significant during the first part. Hunters should stand to the side, perpendicular to the line between melee and tank, so they can dodge slime sprays more quickly by sidestepping instead of having to run through.
- Heroism comes after the first Slime Spray.
- When the first Mutating Infection hits, that person (and that person only) runs out and starts kiting his/her slime. The kite healer will take care of it.
- When the second MI hits, the kite tank and the infected target run out. If they're the same person, bonus!
- Keep the kite going. Kite tank at 5 stacks warns people about the next slime, people should gather up a bit here. When it goes Ka-BOOM, everyone scatter _except the tank can stand still since he'll only get hit once for 10k_. This is important for the repositioning, so that Rotface doesn't park himself in the kite path.
- Try to beat him in under 4 minutes, at around the 4:30 mark things get crayzah!

Harvey (Tankusarus and Rangeme of Stormscale) says this about Rotface 10/25:

"Rotface is easy!* Hold off on the cleanse until the player reaches the perimeter tank. If that tank is a pally, have them cleanse the debuff. Alternatively, have a priest with the offtank to cleanse the debuff/heal the OT and player. This will pretty much assure multiple large slimes do not happen."

*for small values of easy

If you don't cleanse the person with the disease, they will take constant damage and the debuff has a mortal strike component so it's really hard to keep them alive.

I know this, but the idea is the person gets to the tank quickly. If they can get to the OT in say 5 seconds it shouldn't be a problem. (The Herd has Rot25 on farm, so it seems to work...)

For what it's worth, the times I've had the debuff on me for that long, I've died more often than I've lived. Having the debuff removed after a couple seconds is more than enough time for me to get out of melee and almost always find and be near the OT.

What I find helps me is to have my camera set to as far away as it can be. Note that I've also applied the following script to increase the max camera distance:

/script SetCVar("cameraDistanceMax",30)

The extra visibility really helps on a number of fights.
