Ask a strategy question

Post by Texaporte »

Since some of us read strategies and spec guides obsessively while others are more "let's try it and see what works," I'd like to start an open thread here - we should ask questions of each other to see where we can be doing better. Anything from "why am I dying?" or "How can I do better on X boss?" is valid here.

I'll start.

On our Sart+1 tries, is there a better position for Sartharion? In our current position, I don't have to move for head side fire walls, and I have to turn him 90 degrees for tail side fire walls, which can in the worst case scenario expose the raid to tail swipes if they're in the arc.

Also, who thinks we start trying for Momma Said Knock You Out on Faerlina from now on?

I noticed last fight, while I was snuggled up on the warm dirt floor, that in spite of turning Sarth, nobody was getting tail-thwapped. I suspect this is because everyone was out of range for it. Everyone was physically at least as distant as the end of the tail. People either run away from Sarth to get to the other hole in the lava wall, or earlier in the fight (when being turned the other way), melee is running from one hind leg to the other- underneath the dragon, in the back half.

I'm all for trying for achievements everywhere, though I realize that too many attempts on tough ones may slow us down and keep us from finishing a clear in a week.

On the Sarth+1 last week, I failed :(
I didn't have a problem with Tenebron, but at Sarth, I still had to adjust to the different angle of watching for the wall of lava and running the opposite way from what we were used to, that I got swiped by the tail-side lava wall into the pool of lava directly behind Tex, and then I got breathed on by Sarth cuz I was in front of him, and I died horribly.
I think it's just a matter of us adjusting to the new positioning.

Considering that Shadron and (i forgot the other dragon's name that starts with a V) they land at the remaining corners of the island, that's where Sarth should be positioned.

Dom - question for you - when you have to turn 90 degrees for the wall of lava, say you're originally at 6-o'clock position and Sarth's tail is at 12-o'clock position, do you turn yourself to 3 and his tail is at 9, or do you turn to 9 and his tail is at 3?

if I'm at 6 and Sart's at 12, then I move to 9 and his tail is at 3.
