Heroic Anub 10

Post by sphie »

We got this feller to 26% last night and I think we'll be able to get him this week with a few adjustments to raid composition and strategy. Just been plowing through a bunch of Anub10H threads so here are some things we should do this week:

1. heroism

2. heroism

3. msioreh

4. burrow phase positioning. We died a lot in burrow phase and got the hang of it last night but there are a few more things we can do to make it smoother. Since the room is circular, we can try to position the one getting chased on the opposite side of the room. What this does is it keeps 9 people grouped to kill adds, while anub is chasing only one person on the other end. So when he changes targets, he goes directly to where the clump of us are, and the ones who aren't targetted move to the other side and we can repeat. This is easy to describe but probably much harder in practice, but I think the initial seperation might be easy enough if we have enough potions of swiftness/rocketboots/sprint/dash type abilities.

5. heroism

6. nature resist: during phase 3, leeching swarm is nature resist. So with aspect of nature + mark of the wild, we'll have a good amount of NR. The less damage he does with swarm, the less he's healed. This doesn't work with shields for some reason, but works just fine with resists.

7. add tanking on adds 5-6 and 78. So while we're fighting adds 5-6 (3rd set of adds after he comes up from first burrow phase) we can cleave them dead as normal. but then adds 7-8 we usually get around 35-40% so we can't kill them before we get anub to phase 3 (30%). we have 2 options I think. option 1 is to see if we have enough to time kill adds 7-8 before the 2nd burrow (optimal and awesome strat, not sure if it's doable). option 2 is to keep DPSing down anub, but tank anub and the adds outside of an icepatch which'll force them to burrow, to give the healers a short break for a few seconds while they're roaming around underground.

8. anub tanking on first burrow: we should move anub a bit away from the ice patch so he doesn't burrow and immediately destroy a nearby icepatch. It'll give us some needed breathing room for kiting if we have one that isn't immediately broken by anub.

9. heroism

That's all the stuff I gathered today!

does wounding poison/mortal strike work in hard mode? if so we should have that in as well.

I'll have to check and see if the MS effect mattered - I think Ordun was spamming it, so that we didn't need Daewen laying on wound poison.

Nyrrin tanked the adds wearing shield block gear from Naxx and Ulduar. The relief he gave the healers was AMAZING. Time for more of our tanks to pick up SBR gear (having lower health actually helps phase 3 more than going into Max Tanking Mode).

This fight is REALLY HARD, folks. One person dies and it's all over! And oh BOY are there are a lot of ways you can die in this fight!

Yeah, I was trying to keep it up as much as possible. Admittedly, sometimes I just got distracted by hitting execute a bunch and let it fall off for a second or two.

As a note for our tanks, this is the set you want to try and make for the Anub adds if we ever do ToC25:

101.6% dodge+parry+miss+shield block without Shield Block or Holy Shield (you can count the agility buffs Horn of Winter/SoE and Kings, those will be rather important)
3200+ block value

If you do that, you should in theory be able to take zero damage from adds, even when there are 4 of them.

Not a short order, this. Hmm. Has anyone on one of the boards put together an example set for this?

At this point, in my SBR set, I'm at 80ish% before the miss chance.

I'm not 100% sure what my SBV is in that set, though.
Tank... and tank some more.

I was assuming MS as well, and so was not using wound poison. However, reading up on the fight, I havn't seen anything definitive about the MS/Wound Poison effect. Maybe in the logs, we can see a time when we were in phase 3 but neither effect was up, and compare to when it was? If the overall raid damage taken (modulo tank/OT damage) at that moment doesn't match up to the amount Anub healed (off by 30-50% that is), then MS/WP had an effect, and it's critically important to success.

I know MS/WP has an effect in non-heroic, I would assume that it has a similar effect in heroic.

my shield block set stats:

90% total non-hit chance (prior to buffs)
~2000 block value

This was with junk laying around. Haven't tried to collect such a set before... and i'm pretty sure i may have vendored some useful pieces >.<

Edit: there's 2 block rating pieces (warrior t8 head + plate legs) that can be purchased with badges of conquests that i haven't bothered picking up yet. We'll see how much closer that gets me.

I ran the numbers on the last log; Leeching swarm healed Anub for 64% of the damage that it did to the raid. That's consistent with MS in effect, with less than perfect uptime.
