Whelp, no more old-Onyxia runs now! But I'm curious if they've decided to free Marshal Windsor yet....

So here's the REAL strategy:

Phase 1:

1) Onyxia Tank goes straight to the north end of Onyxia's room and turns her facing straight north. Raid picks a side and stays there.
This is really all there is to phase 1.

Phase 2:

During the transition, melee hits her as hard as they can. It's not like they'll get aggro, and it helps shorten phase 2.
1) Three tanks - one tank goes to the south and picks up warders. The other two tanks each pick a whelp cave and park themselves at the entrance for whelp pickup. Raid should position themselves in the center of the triangle this makes, with melee shading toward the south and ranged shading toward the north.
2) Melee's first priority is to kill Onyxia Warders who come out of the south. You can kill him fast enough so that he never blast novas, but if he does hit blast nova, get out.
3) Ranged's first priority is to AoE adds until they're dead (an unholy DK can help here too, to make the aoe do more damage). When adds are down, attack Onyxia.
4) One person will call out onyxia locations for deep breath and get out of the way.

Phase 3:

During the transition, kill all remaining adds while the main tank grabs Onyxia again.
1) Don't stand on a flame crack if you don't want to take damage.
2) Tremor totem in the tank group, plus a few fear wards, will avoid the worst outcome of a bad fear killing the tank.

Phase 4:

Collect loot from the onyxipinata.

"No plan survives first contact with the enemy." - Popular summary of the words of the great 19th-century Prussian soldier, Helmuth von Moltke.

As such, we should edit the above strategy to reflect our lessons learned. ^_^

That's not a cut 'n' pasted strategy, that's just the one we used successfully last night. The ranged shading north helps keep them toward the center and in range of Ony.

As a note, we're not going to be able to do Ony until next week - as of this morning, the 1-day Ony reset is fixed.
