Thoughts on Gara'jal and Spirit Kings

So first off great job guys. We had a clean run through of the first two bosses, barring the one wipe on dogs when it was the lone dog overloading. I'm sure there's a way to get that to go off properly I just don't know it yet. It's a 33% chance of happening but man it makes your life hell when it happens. Hopefully, we don't get hell dog combo next week. It should hopefully be either mines, chains, raid explosion or mines, pools, explosions.

Feng went very smoothly, I'll be a bit quicker on the call to slow down DPS just so we can shave off those last few stacks of burning death going into phase 3. Depending on how people feel we can go for the achievement [Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better] I just need to steal Epicenter during the fight and have a successful kill to finish it on my end, and I'm pretty sure I stole all the other abilities at least once on last nights kill so everyone should be 4/5 on that achievement. I'd grab Epicenter at the very beginning so that Pocky or Hung can use Bubble and we can preset the DPS in the center since we know it's going to happen. The only thing that concerns me is that doing this may throw off the lightning fist steal timer and he might get off a second one where we'd have to heal through it without bubble. Alternatively, we can eat the first one, save bubble for the second assuming I don't get lightning fists. I'm not sure on the healers' cooldowns and what way would make their lives easier, but I thought I'd throw this out there. If we want to just wait on it that's fine too as we have plenty of progression on our plates as is.

Gara'jal once we got the DPS sorted out went great and we definitely made solid progression on each attempt. So yay steady improvement. I wish we actually had better data points to go off of, since Andy going into shadow realm causes logs to do wonky things but it seemed like it worked out okay. We cut the enrage timer very, very close but we got him down. I was spamming defensive cooldowns early and often when it came to Anti Magic Shield and Anti Magic Zone, in a perfect world I'll get 7 or 8 of the former and 3 of the latter. I don't know what everyone else has when it comes to magic defenses but use them early use them often. A couple things I noticed inside shadow realm at least from a tanks perspective is that in normal you have more time then you need to kill the add. I usually spent about 10 seconds doting, kicking and killing adds before I got onto mine to get out. I'm not sure if dps can see my add or not, but there was a tendency to have half damaged adds near mine which I could finish off pretty easily. Whether this was intentional or just a happy coincidence I don't know, but just a thought since any more time I can shave off from travel to my add while killing other adds is great.

Spirit Kings is a complicated fight when it comes to explanation since there is a lot going on, but all things considered we made a decent go at it for a first time through. I will try to make my movements less erratic, but I'm still getting used to that fight, I'll probably tank it some in LFR since it's about the same. Other than that I think I'll reserve any observations until we have a bit more time on them.

So homework for everyone read the Spirit Kings fight so you all have a better idea about what to do and make sure you've got flasks for next week.

Since Shadow Priests have some ramp up time to kill stuff, I ended up dotting in the shadow realm quite a bit. That's probably why stuff was partly-dead (though I only went in once during our kill).

For Spirit Kings, I think the Icy Veins write up is pretty good:

oops could have made spiritbinder a little easier... remind me of this next week

- You can BoP the current tank to negate voodoo doll damage in the frenzy phase (it hits for a LOT)

Yeah Icy-Veins is the site I use for these fights. The main thing with Spirit Kings is that it's a lot of information to process so explaining it is pretty difficult. I'm sure when Hung gets back he can find a way to turn it into another Cock and Balls explanation, but I do not possess such eloquence.

Sadly, I'll most likely not be able to make raid tomorrow. Good luck with Spirit Kings!

BTW if you guys want to try out the first boss in HoF, he isn't too bad. Don't stand in bad stuff, heal, win.
