So after last night's raid, I feel pretty good about our ability to clear the first 'wing' of dragon soul.

Ultraxion is next. However, he's a mighty big gear check. DPS needs to average +25k to beat the enrage timer...

Bottom line, I don't think its worth attempting him as long as we run close to the enrage timer on Zon'ozz (cleared with all of 13 secs to spare last night).

Is it time to go view statistics porn (world of logs), stroke our neck beards, and see where there's slack to be picked up? Is there enough seriousness in people (i.e. morale) to want to work on the 2nd half?

I'd definitely be up for trying Ultraxion.

Frankly, we're still pretty far from that bar. I'm comfortable with just continuing to work on the first 4 bosses for now. If in another 2~3 weeks we do not see any improvements (still running up against enrage timers on Zon'ozz, etc.), then we can start pooling guild resources to improve. LFR gear alone (especially the stuff that procs) actually makes a very significant difference, even if its only moving from 378 to 384.

That said, we are at the final raid of the expansion. It took us a long time and hard work to down Arthas. I imagine it will be just as challenging to defeat the 'real' Deathwing. And for the record, I'm more or less addicted to stat porn, and have reviewed just about every log that Andy and Brad take the time to post .

i'm willing to give ultraxion a shot too. if we can get a solid group, it might be worth tackling just to see how close we can get.

I'd like in on that...I need to get Korhelm some better gear. I currently have 384 item level. Also, looking at the dps logs, I was around 21/22K dps...need to do better!!

Speaking of looking at logs, please be aware that Zon'ozz in fact cheats in our favor. He takes increasing amounts of dmg as the fight goes on, which results in inflated dps numbers. For a more accurate measure of your dps, look at Morchok. You should be able to do higher numbers on Ultraxion than on Morchok (less encounter interruptions), but it'll be closer.
