So it looks like the scuttlebutt on MMO champion is that patch is dropping next week. If this be the case what's the plan guys? Do we want to bang our heads against dragon soul?

well, considering performance on patch days in the past... I'd say it wouldn't hurt to have a fallback plan. That said, i'm sure everyone's looking forward to the new content.

I'm thinking we can go explore the new heroics over the next week or so...

The heroics involve the story behind the final raid anyway, should kinda see that first... Also, patch day shenanigans not withstanding, we have never been so hardcore as to beat ourselves against bosses (meaningfully) on the first day. I mean, it's not like we've been having raid night on the PTR learning the fights anyway.
Heroics and maybe existing FL clear sounds better to me, but with transmog available, we could do some fun-runs (5-man) on non-raid timeslots during the week too.

The raid finder requires average gear ilevel 372. I'm at 371. I'm a smattering of 378s, 365s, and a couple 359s.
I'm not sure how many other people are in my boat that are still a shy a couple points. Of course once 378 gear is available via JP and the new 5mans, it should be quick work to hit it.
Speaking of the Raid Finder. I've been racking my brain about how I feel about it. I see two uses for it...
1) Pure self masochistic pain - queuing alone
2) On off nights when we're short people, fill the key roles and queue into the RF. We just hope we get non-noobs who can stay out of fire.
Of course the RF is by in large a PuG... something we've shied away form in the past. The RF is just a convenient to form one. It's really no different than standing in Stormwind shouting over /2. I guess the only difference is you know the people will at least have ilevel 372 gear hiding in the bank somewhere for their alt-spec.

Yeah I've been watching the youtube vids on the new dungeons so can probably lead a foray into them when the new patch drops. I assumed if Tuesday was patch day we wouldn't try and beat our selves with sticks. The new dungeons drop firelands equivalent ilevel gear so it'll definitely be of use to fill in all those slots that people need.

Right, Raid Finder... iirc, it doesn't count against a normal "lockout", but offers lower iLevel gear, and I don't think it's nerfed in difficulty. Anyways, it is something for people to do, outside of our normal raids.

It's significantly nerfed. icy-veins.com reports that at least one or two major boss mechanics are severely nerfed or just plain missing in LFR difficulty. Per boss.

only pro LFR points i can think of:
-If we have 11+ folks on a raid night that want to raid, LFR can round out our numbers to a full 25.
-Since LFR bosses are easier, they may be worth looking at if we're stuck in progression. However, I think LFR is strictly 25 man (no 10-man LFR). So any mechanical nerfs will have to be weighed against weaker loots + PUGgers.
Con sides mentioned above totally still valid.
