Midnight Launch Dungeon and Raids

The time to sleep is Monday, in the afternoon and evening. Because,
MIDNIGHT THE CATACLYSM STRIKES!
If you're waiting on your pre-order to ship to you, and think that there's nothing to do till it arrives,

we will be running dungeons and raids for guild achievements and guild XP!
This also helps out the couple of crazies going for realm-first to 85, since
3 of the first 5 guild perks make levelling faster in Cataclysm!

So it's a win for us when we finally do get our copies!

So we running just LK dungeons for those of us who won't get Cata until like our mail comes in later that day?

I'm up for the plan.....as far as sleeping in....I'll try. :) But, I got kids to tend to....I'm up for massive dungeon instancing and raiding after 8pm server time though! :)

Every dungeon. There's a Guild achievement for doing a guild run of any dungeon or raid, Vanilla, BC, or LK. We can split up for this, and since Dungeons probably worth less guild xp, we might put them off till after some raids.
As many raids as we can, but for guild credit we need at least 8 people for Vanilla/BC raids. If we have enough, we could split up on the Classic raids, but we'll get through the BC raids faster with a bigger group. I won't be surprised if we don't make it through the night, but pick up later that morning.

Actually, there's only 4 Classic raid zones left, and AQ20 got nerfed. It's practically the same category as UBRS now! For LK raids before ICC/RS, I think there's still different lockouts for 10/25, but not sure if there's separate achievements.

Classic raids: MC, BWL, AQ10, AQ40
BC Raids: Karazhan, Magtheridon, Gruul, SSC, TK, Hyjal, BT, SWP
LK Raids: Naxxramas, Obsidian Sanctum, Eye of Eternity, Onyxia, Ulduar, ToC, ICC, Ruby Sanctum.

As for what order to hit them, whatever's fastest. I'll think about this more tomorrow after my last full night of sleep!

I think in order to get fast guild XP past the initial 3 guild levels, do something that can be finished quickly. Such as, going through all LK heroic dungeons. 10-15 minutes per dungeon per achievement. I think getting an achievement grants more guild XP, so I think the faster a group can whip out an achievement the better.

So MMO listed everything you needed to know for tonight... including that we get cataclysm 11 hours after another country (US school = suck at geography. What flag is blue with a circle of yellow stars in the center?)

The amount of experience needed for guild levels isn't small, but isn't huge. From the chart it's 16.5m. In wrath terms, that's equivalent to about 10-11 toons going from 80-81. Of course you only gain guild exp in certain circumstances. Level 2 is when we start gaining 5% more exp.

If possible, fast tracking to level 10 gives us a 1-85 heirloom (the cloak). Level 10 is 209 million exp though. We'll all likely be 85 before this happens.

Now, for the plans tonight: Is it possible that guild leveling wasn't released with the 4.0.3 because you need to gain experience and we can't until you're upgraded to cataclysm? The wording on the wiki page kind of led me to that conclusion. Of course we're going to gain guild experience at level 85, so I don't know. We'll find out tonight.

Is the fact that we have a tabard considered a "guild crest"? Easily remedied if not.

Usually when 'earn xp' is there as a requirement to something it means 'if it would have earned you experience' rather than actually earned you xp. As for instance maxed lvl hunters leveling up a pet, the mob only needs to qualify as would have given xp if not level capped. But they could of course have changed it, and who knows how they make it work with accounts not flagged for Cata. I guess only way we'll find out is to try it.

There's script commands you can use right now without Cata being live to see the guild achievement window (thanks wow achievement wow forum, crazy people there and I know crazy) and they say you can see it on inspecting others as well. It's just all turned off. Knowing Blizzard I'm pretty sure the reason they didn't put guild achievements live before Cata is exactly that +% to xp from levels 2 and 4. I mean I would have ground out xp like crazy to get that ahead of Cata if it would have been possible.

The daily cap on guild XP is 6,246,000 xp ie: 6.246 million xp. Points granted from Achievements do not count towards the Cap. So if you are capped for the day you can still earn XP for the guild by doing achievements.

However,
Level 2 (Fast Track - +5% XP) requires 16,580,000 XP.

So the question is now, how many XP do we get for each achievement? There doesn't seem to be a list as of yet.

When the guild achievements go in, we will get:
Thunderfury (10 pts)
Sulfuras (10 pts)
We Are Legendary (10 pts)
Diplomacy
Ambassadors
Everyone Needs a Logo (I'm guessing)

So this is a nice little boost, at least.

Do you know if the achievements are shown as being "completed" or not?

That's the flag of the European Union. So you are excused because it didn't exist when you were in school.
