How can we improve the raiding experience?

Now that January is almost up and we're doing 25-mans pretty regularly, I would like to take the pulse of our guild and see how people are enjoying the raiding experience overall. Are Pocky and I doing well in your eyes as leaders? What areas need improvement overall?

In specific, I'm looking for feedback on the following three areas:

1) Loot rules.
We have very loose loot rules, and I want to make sure that we are as equitable as possible. Loot can break up friendships, and that's the last thing any of us want. This is a game, let's make sure it stays fun for everyone!

2) Raid environment in general
Do you think some things should change in raid chat? What about on Teamspeak? The way we all talk and chatter is a huge part of why I enjoy raids, but during bosses we need to make sure that people are hearing instructions. Are we doing well at keeping channels open for raid instructions during boss fights?

3) Schedule
We usually go for Tuesday/Thursday/Sunday, but I'm thinking of moving to Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday. Does this schedule work for people, or should we start shuffling?

Thanks for any feedback!

I'm generally enjoying the raids.

One thought on loot is a question on balance in the guild vs. fairness. Do we want to favor folks who are undergeared in order to advance guild progression, or stick to the more evenhanded rule that those who haven't gotten any loot in a run have priority? I mildly favor the later, which is how we're doing it now, as it cuts down on drama, but if we're eager to gear up the whole guild, the former might be a faster method. In practice, it probably doesn't matter THAT much, since folks who are well geared will generally not roll on stuff.

Just a couple thoughts.

1) Loot rules: Trickiest part of any guild, one item per run based on a random works decently. Things get hairy if you start getting into who needs the item "more". And there are a few different factors that make people angry. The most common two being "X person never raids" or "X person has a better item than me". Just eliminating that from the discussion seems to work well.

2) Raid chatter: Boss fights have had pretty cluttered teamspeak on occasion. Even for an encounter we have down to a science, something unexpected can happen and split second instructions can save us all time and agony. I'd recommend only MT's and raid leaders speaking during bosses, with the exception of course to people who play a specific role in the fight (gluth kiter, priest mind controller, etc) Most other class coordination can be done in /gu or separate chat channels.

3) Schedule: I love Saturday raiding over Sunday personally, just because that's one of the nights I can stay for duration. But will of course agree to any schedule that benefits the most people at once.

1) Loot: agree with Terry, just eliminate those two points from discussion, make it purely random with 1 item per run. What makes us unique as a guild is our connection to each other in some form outside the game. Why we all play, is because we prefer to play and make the choice to play with friends.

Just 1 suggestion from me. When we link our items to compare for upgrade, please dont say "I suggest you pass for this other guy, he's wearing green to your l200 epic." Just by suggesting, you've suddenly placed us in a horrible position. Either a: we don't pass and are a horrible loot whore, or b: we pass because you've told us to. I'd rather be generous, then have generosity forced on me.

2)Raid chatter: less talking more killing

3) Schedule: Speaking selfishly, I'd prefer 9pm Tuesday Thursday and Sunday raid (Saturdays are only day wife stays up late) but you know, whatever is better of course. If you do continue to start earlier, maybe Terry and I can tag team it.
