Wondering what the healers thought about the upcoming design changes, in light of these posts:

Does not want.

Healing, contrary to what the blue claims, has always been whack a mole. At least as far as priests are concerned. You've got your primary tools, you use those as necessary. Lesser Heal, Heal, Greater Heal, Flash Heal..? Just different stages you went through while leveling. I've got no desire to have to juggle different spells that do the same thing in varying degrees. It's already a lot of work to juggle shields, single target heals, HoTs, and raid heals. Adding needless complexity for a 'challenge' is just stupid.

Priests pretty much needed the fewest changes in terms of healing - the kind of changes they're making affect shamans and paladins much more, because those two have always been blunt instruments in terms of healing. The addition of Healing Rain, a spell on the move, and an Unleash Weapon that provides both another instant and a tangible benefit from Earthliving.

I want to see what they do to Paladin healing the most.

I'm fine with the removal of endless mana, as long as they don't go overboard.

In some ways, Druid healing already works like this. If someone has taken damage, they get rejuvenation on them if they're not critical, and they'll heal up to full eventually. Keep a hot or two on the tank to buffer some of the incoming damage, and if the tank took a big hit, we switch to something like nourish to react.

Then again, I think I have this luxury because all in the meantime there's a holy paladin spamming overhealing spells on the tank keeping him from dying...

I'm all for balance. From a shaman point of view, healing is stupid easy. We have 4 healing spells, and a buff/totem (one spell we don't really cast). I usually chose between two. At my gear level, my main healing spell is chain heal. When I realized I could heal that way, I was like, WTF... I can use a multi-target healing spell to heal? I don't go oom because of all the extra mp5 we get from our shield and totem. That's really hax. It's situational of course, but for the most part, the vast majority of my healing comes from chain heal.

I knew mana was too easy to come by when I did research on how I should gear. I was told to gear like like a caster dps (minus the hit). Haste, SP, and crit up... mostly forget mp5. There's something wrong there.

I'm up for a healing challenge.

In any case, when new xpac's come out, blizzard takes the opportunity to vastly change things. It's really their only time to make wide spread changes. They take what they learned over the previous year and a half and try and make the game what they want it to be. I've learned to take a 'wait and see' attitude with changes like these. A lot of times when the news of a change comes out, it looks a lot worse than when it really hits.
