This strategy would make it so that the melee dps is way over the ranged DPS for the fight, but even for Saurfang (a comparable fight if we switch to this strategy) our ranged DPS is very solid. The same people tend to float to the top: 3 rogues, a ret paladin, a shadow priest, an elemental shaman, 2-3 hunters. It's pretty well spread out.
Quick look at WoL shows 9 of the top 15 DPS from Tuesday were ranged. 6 of the 9 had DPS averages greater than 7k.

I agree with T2 though, this is very dependent on solid ranged DPS numbers.

I like Thunderfly's strat....I find that the LESS I move the better DPS I can do. I know I can kick out the numbers, but if the particular fight is rather crazy due to movement then, yeah, my DPS can suffer. It's kinda up and down depending on what the cards deal for whereever I stand. I tend to start out around the green slime spawn point and then move to the "center" to DPS the brown slime from there. Moving back to the green slime position mostly gimps my DPS on Putricide since I can only toss IS, MF, and maybe a well-aimed typhoon if it is up.

I know I am one of the "low baller" DPS most of the time, but I know when I happen to have "good luck" I tend to DPS pretty well. I'm happier with my DPS now...getting used to the fights and trying not to overcompensate and move way more than I need to...I find myself doing better....but I'm sure I can do even better than I am now. For me, it's more of a "if I don't have to move a lot and can just pew pew away, I can kick-butt as a boomkin...otherwise, it's a crapshoot as to what my DPS looks like...I am doing my best though given whatever circumstances come my way. But, reading Thunderfly's strat, it seems to do well for both melee and ranged. Melee seem to DPS hard no matter if they are moving so much or not.

I find myself able to dodge malleable goo pretty well....it's just the "finding a good spot(s) to stand in and pew pew" that has me gimping myself DPS-wise.
