Well remember that until you set it up for your battle.net account, you could donate it to someone without an iPhone!

So who wants one? Probably someone like Ga if he doesn't have one yet.

Haha, funny story! The reason why I brought up the iPhone authenticator was that i was telling Dom about it and he didn't know it existed. So I thought maybe other people may not know about it so I posted it

Kyo: you probably stumbled into a malicious banner ad in one of those sites you were visiting. Many sites are lax about checking the ads featured on their pages for malicious code. Even the NY Times' website has been a victim of this in the past.

I'd give the phone app a try, but it's my understanding that they work with some sort of signature based on your phone and if you switch phones or do something silly like flash the firmware with a custom rom it'll think the phone is different and you have to beg blizard for your account back.

If someone can confirm that the WinMobile version can be made to work across phones or system revisions, I'm so on it.

I use the iPhone one and it works well. Just don't lose your phone or dunk it in water, or drop it from 10 feet high.

Tip for updates of iPhone apps - Let's say you downloaded a (for example) version 1.0 of the authenticator, and then Blizzard released the updated app (for example) a version 1.1 of the authenticator. Before you download the new 1.1 app, make sure you DETACH the authenticator from your battle net account first, and then you can do your updates, and then RELINK it back to minimize the chance of the program thinking you're using a mismatched authenticator with your account.

Aha, that'll likely work with WinMo phones as well then. Didn't know you could detach them once you'd associated them.

I just downloaded it and it's working fine for now. Blizz says to contact them if you lose your phone and can't detach the authenticator. I'm not sure if you need your phone on or in your possession to detach it from the battle.net account. If not, then yeah - just detach it if you lose your phone and reattach another one later.

Plus, it makes you feel like you're CIA when you use it.

Kevin,
I'll take that authenticator! Also, I changed the guild rankings and permissions to reflect authenticators. I may play a bit more (at least until baby number 2) in the coming months.
