Guild Bank Cleaning

Post by Daewen »

Last night after running XT for the weekly, more people than just myself and Andy started looking at the GB to clean stuff out. The easy decisions have already been made: nearly all BC items have been claimed, holiday novelties removed, etc. I suggested the gems stay for now, since they will likely be consumed by Cata-levelling JC's or gear. What few eternals we have on hand will stay, and take the spot of BC primals in the GB eventually.

But what to do with all the blues in tab 1? The epics I figure we just save (there's only 4 anyway). The blues were there to support alts levelling to and having initial 80 gear, and that goal was met. Some items might be better off auctioned, and the rest sharded for the GB supply? Or will the shards even be useful? Auction the whole thing for money?

I'm attempting to sell some of my large collection of enchanting mats atm. Dust is going for about 1g each and shards are going for about 3.50. Not a hell of a lot.

As for the alchemy tab, we probably can vendor most of the <=BC elixirs which are taking up a good amount of the tab.

History shows that blue shards and purple shards from one expansion ago are not popular on AH. If we shard the blues now, we can sell the dream shards better now than when Cata hits. Some blue items, however, might vendor more than its shard form.

Either that or we can keep the dream shards for a _VERY_ long time. Large prismatics sell for a pretty penny now. Of course, mongoose is still a viable enchant. I suspect that Blizzard will have learned their lesson and all of the current enchants will be crap come cataclysm.

I was thinking about us keeping the shards, figuring that some enchanters would be able to turn them into skillups once Cata hits. But, it might be better to turn them into gold anyway. Since I don't have an enchanter main, I don't know if that sounds reasonable.

My opinion: gold it up.

Yeah, it's not like we can't run an enchanter through a few heroics to come up with all the same quantity of shards.

Ok, later on I'll go through and sort things for AH or sharding, and AH'ing shards. I'll put a deposit in the GB on the expected returns.

If you're going to AH the shards, keep in mind Dream Shards are going for 3.50-5g. Vendor any item which sells for more.
